Real Madrid set sights on Ghana midfield sensation Caleb Yirenkyi
Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly made enquiries about Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, as interest grows in the rising Black Stars talent.
Yirenkyi, who has been named in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, enjoyed a standout campaign with Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjaelland, where he made 29 appearances in the recently concluded season. The dynamic midfielder contributed crucial goals and assists, playing a key role in his team’s performances.
His impressive displays earned him major individual recognition, as he was named Danish Superliga Young Player of the Year as well as FC Nordsjaelland’s Player of the Season.
The 20-year-old’s breakout season has reportedly placed him on the radar of several top European clubs, with Real Madrid said to be among clubs monitoring his progress closely.
According to reports, the record UEFA Champions League winners have already reached out to their former midfielder Michael Essien, who currently works within FC Nordsjaelland coaching setup, to enquire about the availability of the highly rated Ghanaian prospect.
Incoming Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is said to be a huge admirer of Yirenkyi’s talent and could push for his signing once he officially takes charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.
FC Nordsjaelland are aware of the growing interest in their star midfielder. However, the Danish outfit has reportedly slapped a fee around €30 million on Ghanaian talent, reflecting his rapid rise and long-term potential.
With Yirenkyi included in Ghana’s squad for the global tournament in North America, he is expected to play a key role for the Black Stars as they aim to make a strong impression on the world stage.
Meanwhile, the Danish club could already be preparing for life after their midfield star, with plans reportedly underway to identify potential replacements ahead of next season.
