Dayot Upamecano seeks improved terms in Bayern Munich contract talks

Real Madrid are plotting a bold move to bring Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano to the Santiago Bernabeu once his contract runs out in 2026.

Reports from Germany suggest the Spanish giants have identified the Frenchman as their next defensive anchor.

Upamecano, 26, has become a key figure at Bayern since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021 for €42.5 million. Standing at 186 cm, he has earned praise for his strength, reading of the game and composure on the ball. His deal runs until June 2026, but talks over an extension have slowed, giving Madrid a chance to make their move.

Los Blancos see him as the perfect fit for the future, especially as they plan for life after Antonio Rudiger, while also managing David Alaba’s injury concerns and Eder Militao’s recent fitness struggles.

Real Madrid previously pulled off a similar coup in 2021, snapping up Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern. Now, with patience and careful planning, they hope to repeat history with Upamecano.
