Real Madrid optimistic about signing Marc Guehi despite trailing Bayern in race
Real Madrid are reportedly optimistic about securing the signature of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on a free transfer next summer, despite Bayern Munich currently leading the race for his services.
The England international of Ivorian descent has attracted interest from several European giants, including Barcelona and Liverpool, but he is not expected to renew his contract with Crystal Palace.
Despite the fierce competition, Los Blancos believe Guehi favours a move to the Santiago Bernabéu. The club has a strong track record of snapping up elite defenders on free transfers, having previously signed Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba under similar circumstances.
Real Madrid view Guehi as a long-term investment, especially with Rüdiger and Alaba both nearing the end of their contracts and careers.
If the Spanish champions succeed, the 25-year-old could become the next in a line of top defensive acquisitions for Madrid, reinforcing their backline for years to come.
