Oscar Naasei to be included in Real Madrid first team

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly considering calling up Ghanaian young defender Oscar Naasei for the upcoming Spanish La Liga showdown against Villarreal.

The record UEFA Champions League holders will square off with Villarreal on Saturday following the closure of the international break.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the seasoned football manager is considering including Naasei in his matchday squad for the Villarreal showdown amid shortage of options in defense following recent injury setbacks in the team.

The young Ghanaian has reportedly made a strong impression on Mourinho after stepping up to first-team training, with the Portuguese coach said to have been particularly impressed by his performance during Tuesday’s session.

Naasei’s emergence has not come out of nowhere, however, as the defender had already attracted attention through his performances for Real Madrid Castilla this season.

His latest showing in training has now strengthened his chances of being involved with the senior side, with Mourinho assessing his options ahead of the meeting with Villarreal.

The situation could provide a major opportunity for the Ghanaian, who has been working his way through Real Madrid’s development structure and is now knocking on the door of the first team.

Mourinho’s willingness to look towards the club’s younger players could also give Naasei the chance to demonstrate that he can cope with the demands of senior football.

For Naasei, a place in the squad would represent an important step in his development and potentially the beginning of a breakthrough at one of the biggest clubs in world football.

The final decision will rest with Mourinho, but the Ghanaian defender has reportedly done enough in training to put himself firmly into consideration.
