Real Madrid have officially contacted Liverpool and expressed their interest in signing France international of Malian descent Ibrahima Konaté this summer.
The Spanish giants are keen on bolstering their defense before the commencement of the 2025/26 football campaign, with Konate emerging as a priority target.
Real Madrid has informed Liverpool on their plans to sign the highly-rated defender in the current window. Madrid have been monitoring Konaté for a long time and see him as a perfect fit for their squad.
The Reds are aware the Spanish outfit are serious in their effort to sign the defender. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s effort in extending Konate’s contract has proved futile.
Konaté’s contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2026, and the player is not planning to extend the deal. However, the Reds could lose the defender for free next summer.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are said to be doing everything possible to extend Konate’s contract for a longer period.
Currently, Liverpool have no intention of walking away from contract negotiations with the 26-year-old defender. The club remain determined to extend the Frenchman’s contract at Anfield to deter interest from other clubs.
