Spanish outfit Real Madrid are interested in signing France defender of Guinea-Bissau descent Dayot Upamecano.
The La Liga giants are reportedly keeping tabs on the centre-back amid his impasse with Bayern Munich over contract extension talks.
Upamecano, 26, is currently tied to the Bundesliga champions until 2026. However, Bayern have been eager to extend his stay, but discussions have hit a snag over salary demands.
Upamecano is reportedly seeking a wage increase that would place him alongside the club’s top earners, such as Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala, with his current salary said to be around €16 million per year.
The impasse poses a challenge to Bayern’s new wage restructuring efforts led by sporting director Max Eberl, who aims to implement a more balanced salary model across the squad. Upamecano’s demands could disrupt that vision, making the negotiations increasingly complex.
Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on developments and could consider launching a move in the summer of 2025 should the situation remain unresolved.
The Spanish club views Upamecano as a potential long-term solution at the heart of their defence and may seize the opportunity if Bayern fails to reach an agreement with the player.
Checks have revealed that the defender is open to a switch to Real Madrid should the opportunity become available.
