Real Madrid eye summer move for English-Ghanaian defender Jarell Quansah

Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Liverpool-owned defender Jarell Quansah in a bid to strengthen their defense next summer window.

Quansah, who currently plies his trade for German outfit Bayer Leverkusen has emerged as a top transfer target for several European clubs following an outstanding performance.

The 23-year-old England international of Ghanaian descent joined Leverkusen 2025 summer on a five-year deal and has since established himself as a key member of the team.

Real Madrid are understood to value the defender’s versatility, with Quansah capable of operating in different positions across the back line. His ability to provide cover in multiple defensive roles is believed to be one of the factors attracting the attention of the La Liga giants.

However, any attempt by Real Madrid to sign the defender could require a significant financial commitment. The Spanish giants has yet to make a formal move, but Quansah has emerged as one of the defenders to watch if the club decides to return to the market to strengthen their squad.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could trigger Quansah buy back options as stipulated in the contract.

Real Madrid are expected to continue monitoring Quansah’s situation before deciding whether to make a formal approach.

The Spanish giants are not alone in keeping tabs on the defender, with several other European clubs also reportedly interested in the England international.

Quansah’s performances at Bayer Leverkusen could ultimately play an important role in determining his next destination, particularly with his long-term future at Liverpool yet to be fully settled.

For now, Real Madrid’s interest remains at the monitoring stage, but the attention from one of Europe’s biggest clubs could have a major influence on the defender’s options when the summer transfer window opens.

With the €70 million clause carrying a June 15 deadline, Madrid may have to make their intentions clear relatively early if they decide that Quansah is the defender they want to add to their squad.
