Real Madrid close in on £120m-rated RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande

Yan Diomande is expected to travel to Madrid in the coming hours after RB Leipzig gave the 19-year-old permission to complete his medical ahead of a move to Real Madrid.

The Ivory Coast international will undergo the required medical examinations in Spain before formally completing his transfer to the Spanish giants. The development was reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, with the deal now understood to be approaching its final stage.

Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached a full agreement following several days of intense negotiations. The remaining administrative details are being completed before the transfer can be officially concluded.

The overall value of the deal could reach €140m, including add-ons. Florian Plettenberg reports that the structure consists of a guaranteed €125m fee, a further €10m in bonuses considered easy to achieve, and an additional €5m linked to performance-related objectives.

If the full amount is reached, Diomande would become the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history, overtaking Jude Bellingham.

The winger, who has also been described as a forward, is set to sign a long-term contract running until 2031. Although negotiations between the two clubs took time to complete, Diomande’s personal agreement with Real Madrid was never in doubt.

The formal signing of the documents took place in the presence of executives from both clubs and representatives of Roc Nation Sports, the agency responsible for managing the player’s career. Despite legal tensions surrounding the transfer, all parties have now given final approval to the Ivory Coast international’s move to Real Madrid, according to an exclusive report by Africafoot.

Diomande’s proposed arrival would represent a major investment by Real Madrid in a player whose current market valuation is €90m. He currently earns an annual salary of €750,000 at RB Leipzig, equivalent to 487.5m FCFA.

The player was born in Abidjan and remains under contract with the German club until the summer of 2030. His move to Madrid would therefore come one year before the current agreement was due to expire, while his new deal would keep him at Real Madrid until 2031.

The transfer is yet to be formally completed, with the medical and final administrative procedures still to take place. However, Leipzig’s decision to release Diomande for his journey to Spain indicates that the agreement between the clubs has effectively been settled.
