Karim Benzema is set to make history at Real Madrid as he equals and then surpasses Zinedine Zidane’s number of appearances for the club. Benzema is currently tied with Zidane at 227 matches played for Real Madrid and is on the verge of surpassing the 1998 World Cup champion.
The former Lyon player will achieve this milestone by playing his 228th match in the Merengues jersey during the upcoming game against Almeria as part of the 33rd day of La Liga. Zidane had previously appeared 227 times for Real Madrid between 2001 and 2006.
At just 26 years old, Benzema has already made significant contributions to Real Madrid’s success, scoring an impressive 110 goals for the Spanish team. In the current season, he has found the net 17 times in La Liga, 4 times in the Champions League, and 2 times in the Copa del Rey.
