Real Madrid agree £? €125m deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande

Real Madrid have reached a final agreement with RB Leipzig to sign winger Yan Diomande, according to Sky, with the Ivory Coast international leaving Leipzig’s training camp in Austria to travel to Madrid and complete the move.

Sky published video footage of Diomande departing for the airport, as he prepared to begin the next stage of his career in Spain.

The proposed transfer is worth €125m guaranteed, with a further €15m available in add-ons. Sky Sport reports that €10m of those additional payments are achievable, while the remaining €5m would depend on conditions considered difficult to meet.

RB Leipzig had previously rejected an offer of €100m from Real Madrid. The Spanish club subsequently increased its proposal to €125m plus €15m in potential bonuses.

Leipzig had been holding out for €130m for Diomande, whose contract with the German club runs until the summer of 2030.

Leganes are also due to benefit from the transfer. A clause in Diomande’s contract with his former club entitles Leganes to 5% of any future sale, meaning they will receive a share of the fee if the move to Real Madrid is completed.

If the transfer goes through, Diomande will become the most expensive sale in RB Leipzig’s history. He would surpass Josko Gvardiol, who joined Manchester City during the 2023-24 season for €90m.

The move would also make Diomande the fourth most expensive player in Real Madrid’s history, behind Jude Bellingham, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale.

Diomande, who has been contracted to Leipzig until 2030, made 36 appearances for the club last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists.

He also represented Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, playing in four matches and supplying one assist.

The potential arrival is part of a busy summer at Real Madrid. The club have officially completed five signings so far: Marc Cucurella, Carlos Espe, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate.

Real Madrid have also appointed Jose Mourinho as head coach following Alvaro Arbeloa’s departure from the role.

Mourinho’s side will begin their La Liga campaign against Espanyol on 22 August. The match is scheduled to kick off at 22:30 Cairo time.

The agreement reported by Sky still leaves the final completion of the transfer as the next step, but Diomande’s departure from Leipzig’s Austrian base indicates that the deal is moving towards its conclusion.
