Real Betis turned down transfer deadline day bid for Morocco star Abdel Samad Ezzalzouli

Real Betis president Ángel Haro has revealed that the Spanish club rejected a significant offer for Moroccan international Abdel Samad Ezzalzouli during the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Ezzalzouli was the subject of considerable transfer speculation, with several clubs reportedly interested in signing the talented winger. Everton were among the clubs to make a serious approach, submitting an offer believed to be worth around €43 million including add-ons.

However, Betis decided against allowing the Moroccan to leave after determining that the proposal did not meet the release clause included in his contract.

In an interview, Haro explained that the club was open to the possibility of selling Ezzalzouli, particularly because Betis needed to generate income and improve its financial position.

Despite that willingness, the offer on the table was not considered sufficient to trigger the player’s departure. Ezzalzouli’s release clause is understood to be approximately €60 million, leaving a significant gap between Everton’s proposal and Betis’ valuation of the player.

As a result, the Moroccan international will remain at the Andalusian club for the time being, with head coach Manuel Pellegrini continuing to count on him.

Pellegrini is reportedly keen to help Ezzalzouli rediscover his best form and build on the performances he produced last season. The winger remains an important attacking option for Betis, particularly because of his ability to take on defenders, create opportunities and make a difference in one-on-one situations.

The decision to retain Ezzalzouli also demonstrates Betis’ belief in his long-term value, despite the club’s financial need to generate transfer revenue.

For Ezzalzouli, remaining at Betis provides an opportunity to continue his development and establish himself as an increasingly influential figure within Pellegrini’s squad.

The failed Everton move may not, however, be the end of the transfer story. With his release clause reportedly standing at around €60 million and interest from clubs continuing to grow, Ezzalzouli’s future could once again become a major talking point in the next transfer window.

Much could depend on his performances in the coming months. If the Moroccan can reproduce his best form and consistently deliver for Betis, further offers could arrive—and the Andalusian club may once again have to decide whether to keep their prized attacker or cash in for a fee closer to his valuation.
