Real Betis Balompié has exercised their purchase option for Senegalese winger Souleymane Faye, solidifying his position at the club until June 2028. This decision follows a successful loan spell with Betis Deportivo, where the 2003-born talent showcased his potential and skill.

Faye, a Senegalese international and recent winner of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, spent the 2024/25 season proving his worth in the Betis reserve team.

During his loan period, he made 18 appearances, netted two goals, and provided three assists.

His impressive performances were crucial, especially in the promotion final against Pontevedra, where he started both games.

Real Betis managed to secure Faye’s services without a direct transfer fee, thanks to a prior agreement with CF Talavera, his former club.

Talavera retains a small percentage of the player’s rights and will receive financial compensation based on Faye’s achievements with Betis.

This strategic move highlights Betis’s commitment to nurturing young talent while maintaining financial prudence.

Before his stint with Betis Deportivo, Faye’s football journey included training stints in Arras, France, and playing for the youth teams of Granada and Vimy (National 3).

He also spent a season at CF Talavera, where his performances caught the eye of international scouts.

Faye has represented Senegal at the under-17 level and in local selections, further emphasizing his international experience and potential.

The confirmation of Faye’s permanent transfer marks a significant step in Real Betis’s long-term planning.

The club’s investment in young talent like Faye aligns with their strategy of building a competitive squad capable of achieving success in domestic and European competitions.

In a statement, Real Betis expressed their satisfaction with the acquisition, noting Faye’s growth and contribution during his loan period.

The club is optimistic about his future contributions, both in the short term with Betis Deportivo and in the long term as he integrates into the first team.

Faye, on his part, expressed his gratitude and excitement about the permanent move. “I am thrilled to continue my journey with Real Betis,” he said.

“The support from the club and the fans has been incredible, and I am committed to giving my best to achieve our collective goals.”

As Real Betis prepares for the upcoming season, the addition of Souleymane Faye bolsters their attacking options and adds depth to their squad.

Fans will be eager to see how the young Senegalese winger continues to develop and make an impact at the verdiblanco club.

Faye’s journey from the youth leagues in France to securing a long-term contract with one of Spain’s prominent clubs underscores his talent and determination.

Real Betis’s faith in his abilities is a testament to his potential, and the coming seasons will undoubtedly be an exciting period for both the player and the club.
