Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has ruled out an immediate return to competitive action for Morocco international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli as the winger continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Ezzalzouli has recently resumed parts of team training, providing encouragement over his rehabilitation, but Pellegrini believes the Moroccan still requires additional time before he can return to matches.

The Betis coach has stressed that the club will not take unnecessary risks with the 24-year-old as he works towards regaining full fitness.

Pellegrini refuses to rush Moroccan forward

Pellegrini said Ezzalzouli is currently “not in a condition to play”, making it clear that the winger will only be cleared once he has reached the required physical level.

The Moroccan’s involvement in sections of group training represents an important step in his recovery, but the coaching and medical teams remain cautious about increasing his workload too quickly.

Betis are therefore expected to continue managing his rehabilitation carefully rather than setting a premature return date.

Betis face busy period without Ezzalzouli

Ezzalzouli’s absence comes at an important stage of the season, with Betis facing a demanding schedule across several competitions.

The Spanish club are also competing in the Champions League, increasing the demands on Pellegrini’s squad.

For Morocco, Ezzalzouli’s gradual recovery will also be closely followed, with the winger remaining an important attacking option for the Atlas Lions.

For now, however, both club and player must wait, with Betis prioritising a full recovery over an early return.
