Real Betis complete comeback to beat Lille 3-2 in Champions League thriller

Real Betis came from behind to beat LOSC Lille 3-2 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in a dramatic opening-day UEFA Champions League contest.

The Spanish side survived an entertaining match in which Lille twice took the lead, before their opponents’ greater European experience and clinical finishing ultimately decided the outcome.

Lille made the stronger start in front of their home supporters and were rewarded during an intense first half. Ayase Ueda put the hosts in front, giving the Dogues an early advantage in a match that quickly developed into an open and highly competitive encounter.
