ANTOINE KOMBOUARÉ UNCERTAIN ABOUT FUTURE AS RC LENS PREPARES FOR LIGUE 2 RETURN
Following RC Lens’ confirmed relegation to Ligue 2 after just one season in France’s top flight, coach Antoine Kombouaré remains evasive about his own future with the club. In a press conference ahead of Lens’ 36th Ligue 1 matchday clash against Montpellier, the Franco-Burkinabe tactician emphasized his focus on professionalism and continuity, while avoiding a direct answer about whether he’ll remain in charge next season.
“Everything is in place for next season. We’re professional until the end,” Kombouaré stated. “With the staff, we’ve already prepared for the Ligue 2 pre-season. Everything is planned for the restart: training camp, friendly matches. With or without us, it doesn’t matter. I’ll be in Amiens tomorrow, the issue isn’t me.”
Despite the preparations, uncertainty surrounds Kombouaré’s position, with no confirmation on whether he will continue leading the team in Ligue 2. His ambiguous remarks hint at a possible departure but also show his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for the club, regardless of who is at the helm.
For now, Lens will aim to finish the season on a positive note as they host Montpellier, while the coach’s fate is expected to become clearer in the coming weeks.
