Antoine Kombouaré Warns Against Complacency as RC Lens Prepare for Saint-Étienne
RC Lens have experienced a challenging start to their Ligue 1 campaign but have recently found some momentum, going three matches unbeaten, including two victories.
Despite this positive run, coach Antoine Kombouaré remains cautious ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Saint-Étienne. Addressing concerns about his team potentially relaxing after improved results, Kombouaré told lensois.com that his focus is firmly on preparation and managing his squad through a demanding schedule.
“I have other concerns,” he said. “How am I going to prepare my players for the upcoming match? Will there be any problems? Will the players be tired after this week of three matches? Then, inevitably, other questions arise, such as their psychological state following two wins and a draw.”
The former Paris Saint-Germain coach acknowledges the importance of maintaining strong mentality and fighting spirit, which have been crucial to Lens’ recent resilience. However, he warned against complacency.
“If we get overconfident, we’re heading straight for disaster,” Kombouaré added. “So I’d be surprised if this Lens team gets overconfident against Saint-Étienne.”
Lens now face the challenge of building on their recent upswing while avoiding any slip-ups that could derail their season.
