RB Leipzig face major financial hurdle in pursuit of Ibrahim Mbaye

RB Leipzig have a serious interest in 18-year-old attacker Ibrahim Mbaye, but any move for the Senegalese prospect would require the German club to go beyond its usual financial limits.

According to Philipp Hinze, Mbaye is among the players Leipzig have examined in considerable detail. His age, potential and playing qualities fit the recruitment model that has become closely associated with the Bundesliga club, which has built its reputation on identifying young talent capable of developing at the highest level.

The interest is understood to be more than routine scouting. Leipzig are reported to have carried out extensive checks into Mbaye’s situation, suggesting that he has been discussed as a genuine recruitment option rather than simply being monitored as part of a wider shortlist.
