Wolves Winger Razak Boukari Poised for Return to France Amid Transfer Interest
Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Razak Boukari is likely to return to France this summer, as the Championship club weighs up another loan deal for the Togolese international.
Boukari, 27, has rejoined Wolves following a season-long loan at French side Sochaux, where he aimed to revive his career after a series of injury setbacks. While he is back in full training and appears to have overcome his fitness issues, Wolves manager Kenny Jackett has hinted that the club sees limited opportunities for him in the current squad.
“He’s back in training and everything is going well. He’s running well, and he seems to have gotten rid of his physical problems,” Jackett said, offering a cautiously optimistic assessment of the midfielder’s condition. “But we’ve strengthened in his position. There are at least four players ahead of him — Jacobs, Henry, Sako and Van La Parra.”
With strong competition for places on the flanks and Boukari not featuring in the manager’s immediate plans, the club is open to offloading him. A move back to Ligue 1 or Ligue 2 is currently seen as the most likely scenario.
“A return to France would be good for him,” Jackett admitted. “There are clubs that are interested, but nothing concrete at the moment.”
Boukari initially joined Wolves in 2012 from French outfit Rennes, but his time at Molineux has been blighted by injuries. He made only a handful of appearances before being sidelined for an extended period. His loan stint at Sochaux last season was aimed at getting regular minutes under his belt, and although his form was solid, it was not enough to guarantee a place in Wolves’ increasingly competitive squad.
Despite the uncertainty, Boukari remains hopeful of finding a club where he can reignite his career. With the summer transfer window still open and interest reportedly growing in France, a resolution may come in the coming weeks.
The midfielder has been capped for Togo on numerous occasions, including participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, and still harbours ambitions of continuing his international career — something that would benefit from regular club football.
As Wolves look to trim their squad and focus on players central to their promotion push, Boukari’s next move could prove pivotal in determining the future trajectory of a career once full of promise.
