Rayed Derbali: French-Tunisian defender joins Stade Tunisien from US Hostert
French-Tunisian centre-back Rayed Derbali has joined Stade Tunisien from Luxembourg side US Hostert. The 25-year-old defender moves to the Tunis-based club after a productive spell in the BGL Ligue, where he established himself as a regular starter.
Derbali has signed a deal running until 30 June 2028 and will wear the number 31 shirt. The transfer continues a steady rise for the 1.92m right-footed defender, who now returns to the country where he previously featured in the top flight.
Born in Toulouse on 20 October 2000, Derbali is eligible for both France and Tunisia. He has accumulated 42 league appearances and four goals in the BGL Ligue, adding one assist and close to 3,700 minutes of action, underlining his experience at senior level ahead of his latest move.
Derbali first moved abroad as a teenager when he left French youth football with AS Muret to join Sunderlands academy, appearing in both the U18 Premier League and Premier League 2 structure as well as the FA Youth Cup. After progressing from Sunderland U18s to their U23 side, he switched to CA Bizertin in 2019, beginning his first spell in North African football.
Subsequent moves took him to US Orleans reserve team in France, then to Al-Hamriyah in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi side Muhayil, before he arrived at US Hostert in January 2025. His market value was last updated at 125,000 in June 2026.
Derbalis transfer to Stade Tunisien is a permanent move, tying the central defender to the Ligue 1 club for the next two seasons.
