Rayane Messi: Strasbourg’s Franco-Cameroonian winger linked with Standard Liege move

Rayane Messi, the France-Cameroon left winger currently at RC Strasbourg Alsace, is being linked with a move to Belgian side Standard Liege in the Jupiler Pro League. The 19-year-old, valued at around €2.8 million, is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2030, meaning any deal would require Standard to negotiate a transfer fee rather than explore a free move.

Messi only became a permanent member of Strasbourg’s first-team squad in July 2025, having initially arrived from Dijon’s youth ranks the previous summer in a deal worth €1.5 million and progressing via Strasbourg’s B team. His rapid rise through the club’s structure has been marked by a series of short-term moves designed to accelerate his development.

The winger spent the first half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Pau FC, before Strasbourg recalled him at the end of that spell and immediately sent him to NEOM SC on another loan in February 2026. He returned to Strasbourg again on 30 June 2026 at the end of that agreement, rejoining the squad ahead of the new season.

Born in Sevres in May 2007 and standing at 1.75m, Messi operates predominantly on the left flank but favours his right foot, a profile that may appeal to Standard Liege as they look to add width and attacking depth. Having only recently reached his highest recorded market value of €3 million, Strasbourg are likely to view him as a valuable asset under a long-term deal, a factor that could complicate any attempt by the Belgian club to prise him away this summer.
