Rayane Messi: Strasbourg’s Franco-Cameroonian winger linked with SL16 FC move

Rayane Messi, the France and Cameroon-eligible left winger currently at RC Strasbourg Alsace, is being linked with a summer move to Belgian side SL16 FC in the 1ste Nationale.

The 19-year-old, who is under contract at Strasbourg until 30 June 2030, has attracted interest after a season that included senior football in both France and Saudi Arabia. SL16 FC are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign, with Messi’s profile seen as fitting the level and age range targeted by the Belgian club.

Messi, born in Sevres and standing at 1.75m, moved into Strasbourg’s first-team squad in July 2025 after joining from Dijon’s youth set-up the previous summer. He then spent spells out on loan, first with Pau FC and more recently with Saudi Pro League side NEOM SC, before returning to the Ligue 1 club at the end of June.

During his time in France’s second tier with Pau, Messi made 14 Ligue 2 appearances, scoring twice, while he also registered a goal and an assist in 13 Saudi Pro League outings for NEOM SC as he adjusted to a new environment and competition. Primarily deployed as an attacking left winger and preferring his right foot, he has also featured in domestic cup action, scoring twice in four Coupe de France matches.

Strasbourg’s long-term deal for Messi, tied to the club until 2030, means any agreement with SL16 FC would need to address his contractual situation, with the Ligue 1 side in a strong position over his future.
