Rayan Touzghar: Standard Liege eye move for Pau FC’s French-Moroccan midfielder
Standard Liege are exploring a move for French-Moroccan midfielder Rayan Touzghar from Pau FC as they look to strengthen their options in central midfield ahead of the new Jupiler Pro League season.
Touzghar, 22, has emerged as a target after establishing himself in Ligue 2, where he made 37 appearances last season in the middle of the park, contributing three goals and three assists. The left-footed central midfielder is under contract at Pau until 30 June 2027, meaning the French club are in a strong position in any negotiations.
Born in Avignon and eligible for both Morocco and France, Touzghar has built his senior career in French football, progressing through the youth and reserve ranks before stepping up to the professional level. He joined Pau FC on a free transfer from Guingamp in August 2025 and has since seen his market value rise to €1.8m, reflecting his growing influence at Ligue 2 level.
Standard Liege are monitoring the situation as they weigh up whether to test Pau’s resolve during the current window, with the Belgian side keen to add mobility and technical quality in central areas. Pau, for their part, face the prospect of interest in a midfielder who has accumulated significant minutes in France’s second tier and other national competitions at a relatively young age.
For now, Touzghar remains a Pau FC player with a year left to run after the coming season on his deal, leaving the Ligue 2 club under no immediate pressure to sell.
