Rayan Cherki may have just sparked the summer’s biggest transfer twist.
The Lyon winger, who dazzled in Ligue 1 this season with 12 goals and 19 assists in 43 matches, dropped a cheeky hint about his next move while attending the league’s Team of the Season ceremony.
With Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham circling for his signature, the 21-year-old is expected to be available for around £20 million. Yet it was his words, and smile, at the awards event that truly set tongues wagging.
When asked if he will like to play alongside Paris Saint-Germain stars honoured at the ceremony, Cherki didn’t hold back.
“Yes, absolutely,” he replied. “I know them all. Ousmane (Dembele) and Bradley (Barcola) are good friends of mine. When you have good chemistry on the pitch, it shows off the pitch too.”
Pressed on whether he was teasing a move to PSG, Cherki offered only a grin and a cryptic, “I don’t know.”
Lyon’s financial struggles may soon make the decision for him.
