Rayan Cherki shines in historic Burnley display
Manchester City are hailing Rayan Cherki after the playmaker produced a truly standout performance in the Premier League win over Burnley.
The Frenchman became only the third player since 2003-04 to register at least 8 shots and create 8 chances in a single league match, underlining just how dominant he was on the ball.
With 8 shots and 8 chances created, Cherki now joins an elite group that includes David Silva and Cole Palmer. Silva hit 10 shots and 11 chances created back in 2015, while Palmer managed 9 shots and 8 chances against Manchester United two years ago, showing the level of company Cherki is keeping.
Since arriving from Lyon for €36.5 million last summer, the 22-year-old has quickly become a key creative outlet for Pep Guardiola’s side. In the Premier League alone he has delivered 4 goals and 10 assists in 28 appearances, consistently influencing games in the final third. Across all competitions this season, Cherki has reached 10 goals and 13 assists, a return that more than justifies the excitement that greeted his move and suggests he is only getting started at the Etihad.
