Rayan Cherki leaves PSG stunned again
PSG’s pursuit of Rayan Cherki has hit another setback, with the French star once again slipping away from Paris in a painful transfer twist.
Paris Saint-Germain continue to struggle to land every player they target, even after dominating Europe in recent seasons. Rayan Cherki remains one of the clearest examples of that reality. The Lyon-born talent was once close to joining PSG, but the move collapsed at the last moment, leaving the club frustrated and searching for answers.
According to the previous incident, PSG had already reached an agreement with Lyon for Cherki at around 15 million euros. The player also had a contract understanding with the Paris side. Yet just as the transfer looked complete, Cherki changed course and eventually chose Manchester City instead. That late u-turn left Luis Campos visibly annoyed, and it became a reminder that PSG cannot assume every elite youngster will accept their project.
The same pattern has now repeated with another major target in Spain. PSG wanted to strengthen their attack, but the player preferred a different destination and no longer saw Paris as the best step in his career. For Campos, it is another setback in a market where prestige alone is no longer enough. Cherki’s story shows how quickly a big move can disappear, even when everything seems ready.
