Raphinha scored twice as Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday, setting a new record for Brazilian goalscorers in the club’s history in the competition.
The Brazil international struck in the 52nd minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area before completing his double 12 minutes later. He followed up after Joao Cancelo’s cross to give Barcelona a decisive advantage in their fourth match of the league phase.
The performance took Raphinha’s tally for the season to 19 goals and three assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
According to statistics from MisterChip, Raphinha now has 23 Champions League goals for Barcelona, moving him to the top of the club’s Brazilian scoring list in the competition.
He has gone beyond Rivaldo, who scored 22 Champions League goals for Barcelona, and Neymar da Silva, who finished with 21.
Raphinha has also moved into the top 10 Brazilian scorers in Champions League history. He is level with former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, while Neymar leads the overall Brazilian list with 43 goals scored for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
The double against Aston Villa also saw Raphinha draw level with Robert Lewandowski as Barcelona’s third-highest scorer in the Champions League.
Only two players remain above them on the club’s all-time list. Raphinha is two goals short of matching Luis Suarez in second place, while Lionel Messi remains the leader with 120 Champions League goals for Barcelona.
Barcelona’s 3-0 victory was secured during a prolific campaign for Raphinha, whose latest goals added to his growing contribution in front of goal and further strengthened his position among the club’s leading scorers in European competition.
