Despite a strong performance from Raphael Onyedika, who scored for Club Brugge, the Belgian side was defeated 3-1 by Manchester City on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
The loss, however, did not eliminate Club Brugge, as both teams advanced to the competition’s play-offs.
Onyedika gave Brugge a 1-0 lead just before halftime, heading in a cross in the 45th minute.
However, the Belgian team’s advantage was short-lived.
Manchester City quickly responded in the second half, with Mateo Kovačić scoring the equaliser in the 53rd minute.
The hosts then took control after a Joel Ordonez own goal in the 62nd minute put City ahead.
Savinho wrapped up the win for the Premier League champions, scoring a third goal in the 77th minute.
Both teams finished the group stage with 11 points, with Manchester City placed 22nd and Club Brugge 24th, securing their spots in the Champions League knockout rounds.
