Benin Eyeing Raoul Savoy as New National Team Coach
Benin is currently in search of a new head coach, and Swiss tactician Raoul Savoy appears to be the frontrunner for the role. Sources close to the situation reveal that Savoy has officially applied and is a priority candidate for the Beninese football authorities.
“Raoul is very interested in Benin. He knows Africa well and is eager to take on this challenge. He is already familiar with the Beninese players,” said an insider.
Savoy has been unattached since his stint with the Central African Republic national team in 2014, where he worked on a freelance basis. His African coaching resume also includes a spell at Algeria’s MC El Eulma and guiding Cameroon’s Tonnerre Yaoundé to the CAF Cup final in 2002/2003.
The vacancy arose following the departure of Didier Olle-Nicolle, who left amid disagreements between Benin’s football federation and the Ministry of Sports.
If appointed, Savoy would bring extensive African experience to the Squirrels, aiming to steer them toward greater success.
