Rani Khedira in line for debut Tunisia call-up for Match friendlies
The Tunisian national football team has received encouraging news ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following confirmation that midfielder Rani Khedira is now eligible to represent the Carthage Eagles.
The experienced player is now in line for his debut Tunisia call-up for their March friendly matches.
Tunisia were drawn in Group F for the tournament, where they will face the Netherlands national football team, Japan national football team, and the winner of the European play-off involving Ukraine national football team, Poland national football team, Sweden national football team, and Albania national football team.
The Tunisian Football Federation confirmed the development through a statement published on its official Facebook page, announcing that the midfielder has completed the process required to switch his international sporting allegiance.
According to the federation, the decision was approved after the Court of Arbitration for Sport officially validated the change of sporting nationality, allowing the player to represent Tunisia at the international level.
With the approval granted, Khedira is now eligible to feature for the Tunisian national teams in the coming period. The federation added that the relevant football authorities, including Confederation of African Football, UEFA, and the German Football Association, have all been notified of the decision.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Union Berlin, was born in Stuttgart and previously featured for clubs such as RB Leipzig and FC Augsburg during his professional career.
Khedira is also the younger brother of former Germany international Sami Khedira, who enjoyed a successful career with the German national team.
