Rangers step up interest in PSV winger Couhaib Driouech

Rangers have made a concrete approach for PSV winger Couhaib Driouech, although the Dutch club have not yet accepted the offer and the 24-year-old has still to reach an agreement with the Scottish side.

Sources close to Driouech have previously indicated that the Morocco international would be open to a move. Any transfer remains dependent on progress between the clubs and the player, with no deal currently complete.

Driouech’s position at PSV has become increasingly competitive. Ivan Perisic and Ruben van Bommel are currently ahead of him in the race for the left-wing role, while Amir Bouhamdi is also considered to have an advantage.

PSV head coach Peter Bosz has had another option available since Thursday, with the arrival of Filip Kostic. Kostic was signed as a left-back but is also capable of playing on the left side of the attack, further increasing the competition for places.

That situation could make a departure an attractive solution for Driouech, who produced several notable performances for PSV last season. His displays in the UEFA Champions League were particularly striking and helped draw attention from clubs outside the Netherlands.

Driouech scored twice against Liverpool at Anfield and also found the net at home against Napoli. Those performances have not gone unnoticed, with Rangers’ interest providing concrete evidence of the attention he has attracted.

The winger joined PSV Eindhoven in 2024 after the club paid Excelsior €3.5m for his services. Since making the move, he has made 61 appearances for the Eindhoven side.

Driouech still has three years remaining on his PSV contract. That agreement gives the Dutch club a strong position in any negotiations, although the pressure created by the competition for his place could influence discussions over a possible transfer.

For now, Rangers’ proposal has not been accepted and Driouech has not agreed personal terms with the Scottish club. The interest represents the clearest indication yet that his future could lie away from PSV, despite his contract and the important moments he produced during the previous campaign.

The next steps will depend on whether Rangers can reach an agreement with PSV and whether the player can settle the terms of a move. Until then, Driouech remains a PSV player, with his position in Bosz’s squad under close scrutiny because of the number of alternatives available on the left.
