Scottish Premiership club Rangers FC have shown interest in Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners, according to reports in South Africa.
Rangers have been monitoring Rayners for some time, with interest dating back to his days at Stellenbosch FC last season.
However, the club’s focus has intensified since the 28-year-old’s move to Sundowns, where his performances have stood out.
“There has been an inquiry about Iqraam (Rayners) from Rangers of Scotland. I don’t think there has been an offer from them at this stage. What I know is they have shown interest and they continue monitoring him,” a source told Soccer-Laduma.
Another source said, “It’s not for the first time. I know that there was interest in him from the same club before he joined Sundowns but I believe they were a bit slow and that’s why he ended up signing for Sundowns but now they are back on for his services.”
Rayners impressed at Stellenbosch FC, nearly finishing as the league’s top scorer, and has maintained his strong form with Sundowns this season, making him one of South Africa’s top strikers.
