Rangers bring in Algeria international Badredine Bouanani as Stuttgart loan move is confirmed

Badredine Bouanani will continue his career in Scotland after joining Rangers from Stuttgart on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old Algeria international is moving to the Glasgow club in search of regular first-team football and the opportunity to continue his development. The agreement also includes an option for Rangers to sign him permanently at the end of the 2026/27 season.

The purchase clause is understood to be worth about 18 million euros (£15.2m), giving Rangers the option to retain Bouanani beyond the temporary deal if his time in Scotland proves successful.

Bouanani joined Stuttgart a year ago after leaving OGC Nice. His move to Rangers represents another opportunity abroad for the young winger, who is now preparing to experience Scottish football after spending the previous year in Germany.

Stuttgart agreed to allow the player to leave on loan so he could benefit from greater playing time. The temporary transfer is intended to support his progress and give him the chance to take on a more significant role during the coming campaign.

The possibility of Bouanani’s departure from Stuttgart had previously been reported as an exclusive by Africafoot several months ago. That move has now been completed, with Rangers securing his services for the season.

Bouanani remains regarded as a player with considerable potential. He has already been selected five times by Algeria at international level, further underlining the profile he has built despite his age.

His current market value is estimated at 10 million euros by Transfermarkt. The option agreed with Rangers is therefore set above that valuation, although the Scottish club will have the opportunity to make the transfer permanent once the loan period ends.

For Bouanani, the move offers a fresh setting and the prospect of establishing himself in British football. Having previously played in France and Germany, he will now attempt to take another step forward with Rangers and secure a lasting place within the club.

The winger’s immediate task will be to make the most of the additional playing time Stuttgart wanted him to receive through the loan arrangement. If he succeeds in making an impact in Glasgow, Rangers will have the option of completing a permanent deal for the Algeria international for around 18 million euros.

At the end of the 2026/27 season, the Scottish club will decide whether to activate that clause and keep Bouanani permanently. Until then, his focus will be on adapting to his new club and proving that he can become an established figure in British football.
