Randy Waldrum exudes confidence ahead of Nigeria’s showdown with South Africa

The Super Falcons, gears up for a crucial clash against South Africa in the final round of Olympic qualification, coach Randy Waldrum has expressed unwavering confidence in his squad’s abilities.

Since the commencement of the Super Falcons’ training camp in Abuja, Waldrum has been meticulously preparing his team for the upcoming encounter.

Despite facing initial challenges with an incomplete squad, the coach remains optimistic as the players gradually join the camp.

“We have a generational team. This is no disrespect to the other teams, but the talent and depth they have we saw in Australia at the FIFA Women’s World Cup against some of the best teams in the world,” Waldrum emphasized, highlighting the quality of his squad.

While acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by the South African team, Waldrum emphasized the Super Falcons’ potential to compete at the highest level.

“This is a special team and we have the ability to be one of the best teams in the world,” he affirmed, underlining Nigeria’s aspirations on the global stage.

Despite the strength of the South African squad, which includes a blend of experienced players and emerging talents, Waldrum remains undeterred.

“The South African squad has individual talents and the coach organizes his team very well. But I have a lot of confidence in my players,” he asserted, displaying faith in his team’s capabilities.

The clash between Nigeria and South Africa promises to be a fiercely contested encounter, with both teams vying for a coveted spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The first leg of the final qualifying round will unfold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, with the return fixture scheduled for the following week in Pretoria.
