Randal Kolo Muani undergoes successful hand surgery after Juventus injury

Juventus have confirmed that Randal Kolo Muani has undergone successful surgery on a fractured hand sustained during their 2-0 Serie A win over Atalanta.

The France striker was injured in an accidental challenge during Sunday evening’s match at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Medical examinations later identified a fracture to the proximal phalanx of his hand, prompting Juventus’ medical staff to recommend an operation to stabilise the injury.

Kolo Muani underwent the procedure at the club’s medical centre in Turin under the supervision of doctor De Loris Piegoli.

Juventus are not concerned that the injury will develop into a long-term problem. The club expect the 26-year-old to return to training in two days, which would make him available to manager Luciano Spalletti during the forthcoming three-week international break.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward has scored once and provided two assists in six appearances for Juventus in all competitions this season. He returned to the club from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window but is still waiting for his first Serie A goal of the campaign.

Despite that, Kolo Muani produced an encouraging performance in the victory against Atalanta, helping Juventus secure a significant result after a difficult run in the league.

Juventus had gone two Serie A matches without a win before the latest result, drawing 2-2 with Milan and then losing 3-2 to Sassuolo. They had also restored their balance in the competition with a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in the fifth round.

Their win over Atalanta was made more valuable by Roma’s 2-2 draw with Inter. The result allowed Juventus to reduce the gap between themselves and the teams above them.

Juventus now have 10 points and sit sixth in the Serie A table, level with Como and Frosinone. Atalanta remain on six points in 11th place.

The club continue to manage a lengthy injury list, with Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yıldız, Khephren Thuram, Juan Cabal, Andrea Cambiaso, Kamil Grabara, Jeremy Boga and Jeff Ekatore among those unavailable.
