Rami Kaib: Swedish left-back linked with Halmstads BK move

Rami Kaib has completed a permanent move from IF Elfsborg to Halmstads BK, returning to Örjans Vall after his recent loan spell with the Allsvenskan side. The transfer was finalised as a standard deal between the two Swedish top-flight clubs, with Kaib’s switch officially recorded to start on 2026-02-03. Contract details beyond the start of the agreement have not been disclosed, and the fee remains undisclosed.

The Tunisian-Swedish left-back had been on the books of Elfsborg until the end of a loan at Halmstad, after which he briefly returned to Borås before sealing this latest move. His most recent market valuation stands at €250k, underlining Halmstad’s decision to invest in an experienced defender still considered to hold notable value in the Allsvenskan market. The transfer also confirms that Kaib will not be entering free agency at this stage, as his future is now tied to Halmstads BK from 2026-02-03.

Kaib, 28, is primarily a left-back but is categorised broadly as a defender, offering Halmstad a specialist on the flank with several seasons of top-flight experience in both Sweden and the Netherlands. Born in Nyköping and holding both Tunisian and Swedish nationality, he has spent most of his senior career in Sweden, punctuated by a significant stint abroad with SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie. That move from Elfsborg to Heerenveen in 2021 marked his first extended spell outside Sweden’s borders and raised his market value to as much as €700k at its peak.

His club journey has been circular and closely linked with Elfsborg. After progressing from Nyköpings BIS U19 to IF Elfsborg’s youth set-up in 2015, Kaib stepped into the Elfsborg first team in 2016. From there he built his reputation in the Allsvenskan before moving to SC Heerenveen, then returning to Sweden with Djurgårdens IF in 2023. He re-joined Elfsborg from Djurgården in 2024, and subsequently headed out on loan to Halmstads BK in the 2025 season before this permanent transfer was agreed.

The latest valuation data reflects a career arc that has seen Kaib fluctuate between €75k and €700k, settling most recently at €250k following his time split between Elfsborg and Halmstads BK in 2025. That stability in valuation suggests that, while no longer a rising prospect, he remains a recognised and reliable Allsvenskan-level defender.

For Halmstad, securing Kaib permanently provides continuity on the left side of defence, where he already featured during his loan spell. For the player, the move offers a stable platform in Sweden’s top tier at a stage of his career when regular minutes and a defined role could be decisive for his long-term trajectory. With the transfer now completed and effective from 2026-02-03, Kaib’s focus turns to consolidating his place in the Halmstad back line and extending a career that has already spanned multiple clubs and leagues in Scandinavian and Dutch football.
