Ramadan Sobhi says he has ‘not thought’ about future after four-year doping ban

Ramadan Sobhi says he does not yet know what his next step will be after being banned for four years for a doping violation.

The former Pyramids player was suspended after the International Anti-Doping Organisation confirmed that a sample taken from him had tested positive.

The decision led Pyramids to terminate Sobhi’s contract by mutual consent, leaving the 28-year-old’s playing future uncertain.

Sobhi was asked about his plans during a brief interview with MBC Masr.

“I don’t know. I haven’t thought about it yet,” he said.

“During the coming period, I will speak about everything related to my future.”

The ban follows the confirmation of the positive doping sample and prevents Sobhi from playing for four years. Pyramids subsequently ended his contract by agreement with the player.

Sobhi also discussed Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting between former club Al Ahly and Zamalek, with the rivals due to meet in the sixth round of the competition.

The former Al Ahly player said matches between the two sides could not be judged by form or expectation.

“The match is difficult and the result is always unpredictable,” Sobhi said.

“At the moment, both teams have reached a good physical level after playing five league matches. I hope we see a strong game.”
