Despite the initial announcement that Nabil Maaloul would be taking charge of Raja de Casablanca, the Moroccan champion club has now revealed that he will not be joining. Although both parties had reportedly reached a pre-agreement, Maaloul’s decision not to come was communicated by the club.
Raja de Casablanca had stated on their website, “Raja de Casablanca has reached a pre-agreement with coach Nabil Maâloul to train the first team. Maaloul will join Casablanca next Wednesday to sign the contract and start work.”
However, Al-Jazeera ultimately selected the Tunisian coach, and he will not be leading the Moroccan club in the upcoming Club World Cup in the Shereef Kingdom. Raja’s president, Mohamed Boudriga, expressed disappointment on National Radio, stating, “After giving his agreement, Maâloul backed out because his employers at Al Jazeera prevented him from leaving. We are really surprised because he was scheduled to arrive in Casablanca on Wednesday. This is unprofessional of him! Raja is a big club; we are going to look for a new coach. Krol is on the list of candidates. I hope we choose the best one.”
As of now, there is no information about the next coach for Raja de Casablanca, and it has been mentioned that Ruud Krol, another potential candidate, may have declined the offer from the Moroccan club.
