Morocco: Raja fans furious after former academy star inspires Wydad Temara shock

Raja Casablanca fans have renewed their criticism of the club’s handling of young players after former academy talent Akram Khouedsi played a key role in Wydad Temara’s 3-1 victory over Wydad Athletic Club.

The result was a major upset in the opening round of the Moroccan National Professional Championship, with Khouedsi starring for the newly promoted Temara side at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.

The former Raja player scored from the penalty spot and provided an assist as Wydad Temara secured a memorable victory against the Red team.

Khouedsi makes decisive impact

Khouedsi opened the scoring in the 19th minute after converting a penalty to put Wydad Temara ahead.

He remained influential after the break and was involved again in the 58th minute, supplying the decisive pass for his side’s second goal.

His performance made him one of the standout players in Temara’s victory and brought renewed attention to his departure from Raja.

Raja fans question youth decisions

The display by Khouedsi has reignited debate among Raja supporters over the club’s decision to release a number of young talents.

A large section of Raja fans expressed their dissatisfaction on social media, questioning how the club’s sports company handled the futures of several academy players.

Supporters have directed criticism towards officials at the sports company, headed by general manager Nawal El Aidaoui, over decisions they believe did not sufficiently consider the technical qualities of some of the players who were allowed to leave.

Khouedsi’s contribution to Wydad Temara’s victory has intensified those discussions, particularly after the former Raja player directly influenced two of his side’s three goals.
