Moroccan giants Raja face competition in race for Younes Dahmani

Raja Casablanca are stepping up efforts to sign Younes Dahmani from Ittihad Touarga, with the Moroccan giants hoping to complete a deal before travelling to Spain later this month.

The Casablanca club wants the striker to join its squad for the pre-season trip, which includes a friendly against Valencia in mid-August, as preparations continue for the new campaign.

However, Raja face competition for the 23-year-old, with Ittihad Touarga attracting interest from clubs in Sudan, Europe and Egypt.

Overseas interest complicates negotiations

Ittihad Touarga are under no pressure to make an immediate decision on Dahmani’s future despite Raja’s determination to finalise the transfer.

The Rabat-based side are weighing up several options after receiving strong interest from both domestic and foreign clubs, including Sudanese outfit Al Hilal.

Administrative director Abdelmoula El Khenfari revealed that the club has already received three official offers for the forward during the current transfer window, while several teams from Europe and Egypt have also made enquiries.

Raja are nevertheless optimistic that an agreement can be reached by next week, allowing Dahmani to join the squad before their departure for Spain.

Breakthrough season attracts attention

Interest in the striker comes after an impressive campaign in the Botola Pro, where Dahmani established himself as one of the division’s most dangerous attackers.

The forward featured in 31 league matches for Ittihad Touarga last season, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists.

His performances have made him one of the most sought-after players in Moroccan football, with Raja now hoping to win the race for his signature before the start of the new season.
