Raja coach takes firm decision ahead of crucial Wydad derby clash
Raja Club Athletic have stepped up preparations for their highly anticipated derby showdown against Wydad Athletic Club in the Moroccan Professional League.
The Casablanca giants resumed training on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s massive encounter, which is scheduled to take place at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in the 20th round of the league campaign.
Despite the demanding fixture against Maghreb Fez earlier this week, Raja’s technical staff decided against granting the players a rest day as preparations intensified for the derby.
Head coach Fadlu Davids reportedly made the decision in a bid to maintain the squad’s focus, rhythm, and physical sharpness ahead of one of the club’s most important matches of the season.
Raja head into the clash in high spirits after securing victory over Maghreb Fez, a result that temporarily lifted the Green Eagles to the top of the Moroccan Professional League standings with 39 points. Maghreb Fez remain second on 38 points as the title race continues to heat up.
Meanwhile, Wydad will be aiming to derail their rivals’ momentum and strengthen their own position in the standings when the two sides meet in another explosive Casablanca derby on Saturday evening.
