Raja Club Athletic and Wydad Athletic Club have been ranked among the 100 most followed football teams globally, according to the latest report by the CIES Football Observatory released in June 2025.
The Casablanca-based giants secured their positions in a list dominated by European powerhouses such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Manchester United.
The ranking, which analyses follower counts across Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and YouTube, reflects each club’s digital influence and global appeal.
Raja Casablanca leads the way among Moroccan clubs with 12.3 million followers, placing them 59th on the global list.
The figure also ranks Raja sixth among the most popular football clubs in the Arab world.
Wydad Casablanca, their arch-rivals, come in at 99th globally with 6.5 million followers, making them the eighth most followed club in the Arab region.
These numbers highlight the digital prominence of both clubs amid stiff regional competition, particularly from Saudi Arabian and Egyptian sides.
Al-Nassr tops the Arab world with 62 million followers, followed closely by Egypt’s Al Ahly with 57.7 million and Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia with 37.7 million.
Zamalek (17.2 million), Al-Ittihad (15.5 million), and Al-Ahli (10.7 million) also feature prominently in the top tier of the Arab digital football landscape.
Raja and Wydad’s inclusion in this global ranking reflects more than just online engagement.
It signifies the clubs’ transformation into internationally recognised football brands, driven by loyal fanbases and a strong presence on digital platforms.
Despite financial and structural disparities with Europe’s elite clubs, their ability to attract millions of followers showcases the passion surrounding Moroccan football.
This growing digital footprint further reinforces the impact of the clubs beyond domestic competitions.
With vibrant content strategies and active engagement, both Raja and Wydad are cultivating communities that extend far beyond Morocco’s borders.
As social media continues to shape the global football narrative, the presence of Moroccan clubs in such esteemed company suggests a promising trajectory.
With continued investment in digital strategy and fan engagement, both Raja and Wydad are well-positioned to further elevate their global profiles in the years to come.
