Raja Club Athletic invested close to 1.2 billion centimes during the current winter transfer window, following a carefully planned approach aimed at reinforcing the squad and correcting technical shortcomings that emerged in the first half of the season.
The club did all this while avoiding the costly errors that previously affected the club’s financial and sporting balance.
The Casablanca-based club focused its winter activity on four targeted signings, each addressing a specific need within the team.
Left-back Amine Khammas was brought in to fill the gap created by the departure of the club’s former left-back to Egypt’s Al Ahly, ensuring stability in a key defensive position.
Raja also added midfielder Ayman Barkok and attacking midfielder Mohamed Abou Zreik, popularly known as “Sharara,” to provide greater depth and flexibility in midfield and the final third. Nigerian striker Matias Ayusi was signed to strengthen the attacking line and improve the team’s efficiency in front of goal.
According to Al-Akhbar, Raja’s management deliberately adopted a highly cautious recruitment policy this time, prioritising players who were match-ready and capable of integrating quickly into the squad.
This strategy was designed to avoid repeating past transfer windows in which signings failed to make the desired impact. The report added that spending was kept under strict control, in line with the club’s financial capabilities.
At the same time, the club remained firm on preserving squad stability. Offers for key players Ayoub Maamouri and Abdellah Khafifi were turned down, as the management believed that allowing important figures to leave midway through the season could upset the team’s balance, particularly with crucial fixtures on the horizon.
