Raja Casablanca file official protest against referee in RS Berkane draw

Raja Club Athletic have lodged a formal complaint with the league’s arbitration committee following what they describe as a decisive refereeing error in their 1-1 draw against RS Berkane in the 13th round of the Moroccan Professional League.

The Casablanca giants confirmed the move in an official statement released across their social media platforms, expressing strong dissatisfaction with a decision taken in the 67th minute of the match.

According to Raja, the referee awarded a foul to Renaissance Berkane just outside the penalty area despite television replays allegedly showing no infringement. The resulting set-piece led directly to Berkane’s equalising goal — a moment Raja believe altered the outcome of the contest.

“Raja expresses its surprise at what happened,” the statement read, emphasizing that video footage did not justify the foul decision that ultimately proved costly.

The Green Eagles stressed that such officiating errors have a direct impact on the points tally and the overall league standings, particularly in a tightly contested title race.

Raja called for an urgent and transparent investigation into the incident, insisting that safeguarding the credibility and integrity of the Moroccan Professional League must remain a priority.

As tensions rise following the controversial draw, attention now turns to the arbitration committee and whether any further action will be taken regarding the disputed decision.
