Raja Casablanca coach Fadlu Davids hit with selection headache ahead of decisive Ittihad Tanger clash
Raja Casablanca head coach Fadlu Davids has been dealt another setback ahead of his side’s crucial league encounter against Ittihad Tanger, with several key players set to miss the fixture.
The Green Eagles will welcome Ittihad Tanger to the Mohammed V Complex on Sunday night at 10 pm, in a matchday 13 fixture of Morocco’s National Professional Football Championship.
However, preparations for the game have been disrupted by suspension and injury concerns within the squad.
Raja Casablanca are expected to be without Ismail Khafi, who is ruled out after accumulating four yellow cards. Adam Nafati and Ayman Barqouq are also set to miss the match due to injury, further complicating the coach’s selection options.
According to the club’s medical staff, Nafati is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks following the injury he sustained in last Friday’s match against Ittihad Yaacoub El Mansour. Barqouq, on the other hand, picked up his injury during Raja’s recent outing against Club Meknès.
There is also uncertainty surrounding the availability of Mohamed Makazi, whose fitness remains in question. The technical team, led by Davids, is awaiting a final medical assessment to determine whether the midfielder can return to group training in time to be considered for the match.
Raja Casablanca head into the encounter under pressure, as they look to halt a disappointing run of results. The team has struggled in recent outings, suffering a defeat to Club Meknès before being held to a home draw by Ittihad Yaacoub El Mansour.
Sunday’s clash against Ittihad Tanger is therefore viewed as a key opportunity for Raja to steady their campaign and regain momentum, despite the growing list of absentees facing the technical staff.
