Raja AC sign Tunisian-Moroccan striker Adil Baltayeb on free transfer

Raja Athletic Club have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Tunisian-Moroccan striker Adil Baltayeb on a free transfer.

The enterprising attacker penned a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028, with Baltayeb expected to provide additional quality and depth in the final third.

The 29-year-old joins Raja shortly after ending his brief spell with Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis by mutual consent.

Baltayeb joined Espérance last July on a two-year deal but his stay in Tunisia was cut short after only a few months. Reports indicate that the termination of his contract was linked to a disagreement over the method of paying his financial dues, amid restrictions imposed by Tunisian regulations on foreign currency transactions.

Despite his short spell with Espérance, Baltayeb arrives at Raja with considerable experience from different leagues across Europe and the Middle East. The forward has previously played for clubs in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Turkey and Romania, giving him exposure to different styles of football and competitive environments.

His most recent experience came with Romanian club Ercești, where he reportedly impressed with his attacking displays and ability to contribute in the final third.

Raja will hope that Baltayeb can carry that form into Morocco and provide an additional attacking threat as they look to compete on multiple fronts.

One of the key attractions of the signing is Baltayeb’s versatility. He is capable of operating as a centre-forward as well as on the left wing, giving the coaching staff greater flexibility when selecting their attacking setup.

His ability to play in more than one position could prove valuable throughout the season, particularly during periods of fixture congestion and when injuries or suspensions affect the squad.

Raja are therefore counting on Baltayeb’s experience, versatility and attacking qualities to strengthen their options in the final third, with the Tunisian-Moroccan forward now beginning a new chapter of his career in Casablanca.
