Raja AC in advanced talks with coach Paco Jémez to replace Nasreddine Nabi

Raja AC have opened advanced negotiations with Spanish coach Paco Jémez as the club searches for a new head coach following the departure of Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi.

According to reports, the Moroccan giants have made significant progress in talks with Jémez, although an agreement has yet to be finalized.

The negotiations were reportedly initiated following a recommendation from Portuguese sporting director Matías, who is said to have considerable influence over Raja’s sporting and technical decisions. He played a key role in the decision to make changes to the coaching staff and subsequently pushed for talks with the experienced Spanish coach.

While discussions between the two parties are at an advanced stage, Raja are yet to reach a final agreement with Jémez. The club must still settle the remaining details of the potential deal before his appointment can be officially announced.

Jémez, 56, has extensive coaching experience, particularly in Spanish football. He has managed several clubs, including Rayo Vallecano, Las Palmas, Granada, Córdoba and Ibiza.

His career has also taken him outside Spain, with a spell in Iran where he coached Tractor Sazi. He additionally worked as an assistant to Nuno Espírito Santo during the Portuguese coach’s time in charge of West Ham United in the Premier League.

Raja are understood to view Jémez’s experience and coaching background as important factors in their consideration of him for the position.

However, until all contractual details are agreed, the Spanish coach remains a potential candidate rather than Raja’s officially appointed manager.
