Raïs Mbolhi Joins Philadelphia Union After World Cup Heroics
Algerian goalkeeper Raïs Mbolhi is set to leave European football and CSKA Sofia to embark on a new chapter in Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Philadelphia Union. Following a standout performance at the recent World Cup, the 28-year-old shot-stopper, who was trained at Olympique de Marseille, has attracted significant interest, but it is the American club that ultimately secured his signature, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo.
The Philadelphia Union prioritized Mbolhi as a key target to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season and successfully outbid a host of European clubs, including FC Porto, Sheffield United, Blackpool, Leicester City, and Queens Park Rangers.
Mbolhi has committed to a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Union, who reportedly paid a transfer fee of €300,000 to finalize the deal. The move marks an exciting step for the Algerian international, who will bring his experience and proven shot-stopping abilities to the growing MLS competition.
