Rafik Belghali: Newcastle linked with Hellas Verona right-back

Rafik Belghali, the Algerian-Belgian right-back at Serie B club Hellas Verona, has been linked with a move to Premier League side Newcastle.

Belghali is 24 and has a reported market value of €12m. He is contracted to Verona until 30 June 2029, meaning any move would involve Newcastle securing an agreement with the Italian club rather than signing the defender as a free agent.

The reported interest comes with Belghali under a long-term contract at Verona, where he is listed as a right-back. His current deal gives the club contractual control over his future as speculation about a possible move to England emerges.

Newcastle’s reported interest would represent a move from Italy’s second tier to the Premier League for Belghali. The player’s dual Algerian and Belgian nationality is also part of his background, although no international record or transfer agreement has been established in connection with the rumour.

Belghali remains a Hellas Verona player, with his contract running through June 2029.
