Rafael Leao admits AC Milan exit ambitions but vows ‘as long as I’m there, I’ll give my all’

Rafael Leao has revealed he has already discussed the possibility of leaving AC Milan in search of a new challenge, although the Portugal international insists he remains fully committed to the Italian giants while his future remains unresolved.

The 27-year-old forward made the admission during an appearance on the Brazilian podcast Podpah, where he spoke openly about his long-term ambitions after spending several successful seasons with the Rossoneri.

Leao disclosed that he had informed the club of his desire to explore a fresh chapter in his career but admitted there is still uncertainty over whether a transfer will materialise before the new season.

“I had already spoken with Milan about the possibility of trying a new experience. I don’t know if it will happen, I have to show up there on the 29th and as long as I’m there, I’ll give my all, always respecting the shirt that has given me everything.”

The Portuguese international also expressed gratitude to Milan for the role the club has played in his development, while acknowledging that he is eager to pursue new ambitions if the opportunity arises.

“I think it’s a club that has helped me a lot in every way, but in life you also have ambitions for other things and if it happens, I’ll consider my options, but I’m still a Milan player.”

No concrete offers yet as Australia tour awaits

Despite Leao’s openness to a move, no significant offers have emerged for the winger, leaving his immediate future uncertain.

Unless a transfer develops in the coming days, he is expected to report for duty on July 29 before joining Milan’s squad for their pre-season tour of Australia.

The forward is currently spending the final days of his post-World Cup break in Brazil, where he has been maintaining his fitness at Corinthians’ training facilities.

Leao thanked the Brazilian club for welcoming him during the off-season and hinted that football can often produce unexpected twists in the future.

“Corinthians, thank you so much and we’re together, you never know, you never know what the future holds, I’m already grateful for opening the doors for me to train.”
