Raed Chikhaoui: Tunisia defender joins Esperance from US Monastir on long-term deal
Tunisia centre-back Raed Chikhaoui has joined Esperance from US Monastir, signing a contract with the Tunisian champions until 30 June 2029.
The 22-year-old, who stands at 1.91m and plays primarily as a right-footed central defender, makes the switch within Ligue 1 after emerging as one of US Monastir’s key defensive figures. The move keeps him in the domestic top flight but places him at the heart of a club regularly competing for honours at home and in continental competition.
Chikhaoui arrives at Esperance with recent experience in both knockout and continental football. Across the 2025-26 campaign, he featured in the Tunisian Cup and the CAF Champions League, scoring once in each competition. He started every cup tie for his former side and played the majority of minutes in their Champions League campaign, underlining his status as a regular starter.
Born on 9 June 2004, Chikhaoui has already been involved in Tunisia’s 2026 World Cup squad, though he did not feature in any of their three matches at the tournament. His involvement at that level adds international exposure to a profile built in the domestic game.
Esperance have secured Chikhaoui’s services at a time when his market value stands at around €600,000, reflecting his growing importance in the Tunisian game. The defender, who will wear number 19, officially joined the Tunis club on 14 July 2026 and is now tied to Esperance for the next three years.
